Student Support Services Division
All students eligible for special education support receive Specially Designed Instruction (SDI). SDI means adapting the content, methodology, or delivery of instruction to address the unique needs of the student that result from the disability, while also ensuring access to the general curriculum. A continuum of special education courses and programs are offered to provide SDI and allow students of all skill and ability levels to find success within the curricula. In addition to all general education classes additional course options available to students with IEPs include Co-taught general education classes, and instructional special education classes in our Transition, HZ, ALPHA, and Raptor Academy programs.
Individual Education Plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities are developed each year in accordance with state and federal regulations. IEPs are designed to ensure that each student is appropriately educated within the least restrictive environment based on his or her individual educational needs. Four-year plans of study for special education students vary greatly and modifications to the required course of study may be made based on a student’s individual needs. Special education staff, counselors, students, and parents will partner together to develop a four-year plan of study specific to their student’s needs and ability levels that supports the transition goals and plans of the student.
