Greetings Raptor Families:
In response to the incident that took place at Friday evening’s football game, a letter was sent to all Rich Township High School families, staff, and community ensuring that the district leadership was reviewing the current protocols and making the appropriate adjusts to ensure a safe environment for all home events. We would like to share how we plan to continue to implement safety protocols at our home events and share with you some changes we will start to implement effective immediately.
Current Practices:
• Security and Police Department presence in and out of the stadium
• Scanning IDs for all Rich Township students
o This is to track and deny entry to any students who are currently on the social suspension list. This list is updated daily.
• Checking IDs for visiting students
o This is to track and ensure that only visiting school students are allowed into the game
Changes:
• Increased staff and security in and out of the stadium, with established ones for all personnel
• Entrance and Exit to the parking lot (We have included our parking lot overflow plan) https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Ieb46ynzo85fJEacf1JYVwnxKOyhkAmX/view?usp=sharing
• Entrance flow for spectators up the main walkway
• Increased criteria for Rich Township student home event attendance using our Behavioral, Attendance, and Grade reports. Students must meet 2 of the following three criteria to be allowed entry into a home event.
o No more than 1 failing grade
o 80% or better attendance
o No physical altercations and/or unserved detentions
• Metal detectors/wands will be at both entrances
• Increased lighting in the parking lot
• All bags will be subject to a search
We want to continue to remind families to speak to their children about the importance of positive behavior in and out of school. As a district, we are using the additional time in our student’s schedules to have these discussions, as well.
We appreciate your continued support of Rich Township High School District 227 to ensure student success.

Greeting Raptor Families:
Last night at our home football game, we welcomed a large crowd as our football team played Morgan Park. We would like to thank all our families and students who attended the game and acted appropriately.
Unfortunately, we did have a few altercations, one of which ended in a young man being taken to the hospital. It has been confirmed the young man was released from the hospital last night with a concussion. This young man is a resident of Country Club Hills, but not a Rich Township student. We are still working to identify the individual(s) responsible for the attack on the young man. We would also like to address that no weapons were brandished or discharged at last night’s game. Additionally, we want to thank the Richton Park Police Department for their presence at the game and their continued support in ensuring the safest environment for our families.
We want to take this time to remind families to speak to their children about the importance of positive behavior at our sporting events. We will not tolerate fighting at these events. As we continue to support our students in becoming better citizens, being accountable for their actions is just one step in that journey.
We take the safety of our event participants very seriously and have already started evaluating the events from last night to adjust our protocols. Please monitor your emails Tuesday evening for the updated protocols for all our home events moving forward.
We appreciate your continued support of Rich Township High School District 227 to ensure student success.
